Mafadi Academy was established in 1999 as a finishing school, by the founder, Mr Bethuel Mpuru who is passionate about education and the development of communities.
Our Story
In the early stages of his career, Mr Mpuru taught at a few schools in Limpopo, around Burgersfort as well as in Mpumalanga, around Acornhoek, before he served as the Principal of Lekete High School, situated in a small village of Arthurseat in Mpumalanga Province. During his tenure at Lekete, he, together with a group of dedicated staff, built a solid foundation for great men and women who became renowned leaders in various fields of their expertise in our country, South Africa.

Mr Bethuel Mpuru became the inaugural rector of Dr CN Phatudi College of Education in 1977. His love for education and books continued to be a key driver in his life. He later ventured into business and ran a successful bookshop in his home village of Riba Cross in Burgersfort. This bookshop served many communities spanning an area of a radius of over 50km.
Establishing a finishing school was the next logical thing to do for Mr Mpuru. The success of the finishing school, the feedback received from the surrounding communities, including Ga-Mathipa (where Mafadi Academy is located), gave rise to the need for a full-fledged school.
The application process to register and establish a full-fledged school started and the registration was realised in July 2002 much to the delight of the community. Mafadi Academy has, over the years, developed into an independent school of choice, producing good matric results.
Mafadi Academy now operates as an independent institution under the leadership of the Founder and a Board of Directors. The Principal, together with the School Management Team are responsible for the day to day running of the school.
